Carnaval de Ponce · Cultural Documentary Short
This short-form documentary piece highlights the cultural significance of the Carnaval de Ponce, the oldest carnival celebration in Puerto Rico, with more than 160 years of continuous tradition. Through narration, visual rhythm, and concise editorial structure, the piece translates the historical and emotional resonance of the event into a focused digital storytelling format designed for contemporary platforms. The work combines cultural context, recognizable traditions such as the vejigantes and the origins of the plena in Ponce, and dynamic visual elements to convey how community celebrations continue to shape Puerto Rican identity across generations. This independent piece was produced through my studio practice, Guaramayo, reflecting an ongoing interest in cultural storytelling and the development of short-form narratives that translate complex historical and social themes into accessible audiovisual communication.
